Trust the Alternative to Infrared Heating

Trust the Alternative to Infrared Heating

As winter’s chill sets in and energy costs continue to soar, homeowners are searching for innovative, cost-effective heating solutions. While infrared heating has gained popularity in recent years, at Trust Electric Heating we offer an alternative to infrared that provides energy efficient and cost effective heating.

What is Infrared Heating?

Infrared heating has become a buzzword in the world of electric heating, praised for its ability to warm objects and people directly rather than heating the air around them. infrared heaters provide radiant heat which feel similar to the warmth you feel from the sun.

Infrared heaters emit electromagnetic waves that travel through the air until they hit a solid object (or person), transferring their energy and warming it up. This process is efficient in its directness, but it comes with limitations that have left many homeowners searching for alternatives.

The problem with Infrared Heating

Unfortunately infrared heating is not all sunshine and rainbows. The main problem is that it only heats objects and people directly, not the air, which means unless you’re not sat nearby the heater, you won’t feel the benefit of the infrared heater. Plus, if your home isn’t well-insulated, any warmth you do get could sneak away pretty quickly. So, while infrared heaters may look nice, it’s worth considering alternative methods that are more effective at warming you and your home.

Meet the NEOS

This is where the NEOS Electric Radiator comes in, the NEOS Electric Radiator is a direct acting storage heater. This means that, like infrared heating, it provides direct heat, but it also stores heat, like a night storage heater would. But the truth is, the NEOS isn’t like an infrared or night storage heater.

While the NEOS provides direct heat like infrared heating, it provides this heat through convection rather than radiation. This is where the convection vs radiation argument comes in.

Convection vs Radiation

While radiation provides sun like warmth, convection actually heats up the room you’re sat in - so you don’t all have to sit round the heater to be warm. Convection works by drawing in cold air from the bottom of the radiator, heating this up through a heating element which causes that air rises as it heats up. This heat is then pushed out into the room and the process continues till the room reaches your desired temperature.

Typical convection heaters will have 1-2 points of convection, but at Trust Electric Heating, we’ve doubled this to 4, meaning that the NEOS provides more heat, quicker - this is something we’ve named Quadvex convection.

Energy Efficiency

Infrared heating is known for being energy efficient due to its direct heating abilities, and only heating where needed saving energy. The NEOS electric radiators also offers direct heating abilities but with a twist. The NEOS encompasses a soapstone core, meaning that like a night storage heater it can store heat, but the difference here is that it doesn’t wait until the following morning to release the heat. With infrared heating, you need consistent energy supply in order for to feel the heat.

So how does this make the NEOS energy efficient? The NEOS is able to provide 30 minutes of heat without using electricity! When the room reaches your set temperature, the NEOS will stop using electrical energy but the core will still emit heat to keep the room at the desired temperature. A big bonus of this is the cost savings! After testing the NEOS against panel heaters, and German electric radiators we found that the NEOS is actually 59.4% cheaper to run - you can read more on this in our running cost guide.

In addition to this the NEOS has several innovative features which work towards it running energy efficiently:

  • Precision Temperature Control: The NEOS comes with advanced thermostatic controls meaning you can schedule your heating and zone control to match your lifestyle, saving you wasting energy heating unoccopied rooms.

  • Open Window Detection: The NEOS can sense when a window is open and automatically adjust its output to prevent energy loss, a feature particularly useful in today’s energy-conscious world.

These features work in concert to create a heating system that not only keeps you comfortable but does so with minimal energy wastage. The result is lower energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint, making the NEOS an environmentally responsible choice for conscious consumers..

The Environmental Impact: Reducing Your Carbon Footprint

We are now in an era where environmental impact is a growing concern for homeowners, especially with the government’s net zero target. The energy efficiency of the NEOS translates directly into reduced energy consumption. Less energy used means fewer resources required to generate that energy, whether it’s from renewable sources or traditional power plants.

Additionally, the NEOS’s modular design means you’ll never have to replace a full unit again, simply switch out the sides or panel which is in need of a refresh.

Why Trust Electric Heating?

We know there is a lot of mistrust in the heating industry, especially with energy efficiency and cost saving claims, which is why we’re named “Trust Electric Heating” for a reason.

With years of experience in the heating industry, our inventor Scott wanted to create a better heating solution that homeowners could trust. So he took the best qualities from different heating systems to create the NEOS. Since then we’ve conducted multiple knowledge transfer partnerships with the University of Huddersfield to rigorously test and develop our innovative technology.

We understand that choosing a heating solution is a significant decision, one that impacts your daily comfort and long-term finances. That’s why we offer more than just a product; we provide a FREE heating survey to ensure you make the right choice for your needs:

  • FREE Heating Guide: Our detailed guide offers insights into various heating options, helping you understand the pros and cons of different technologies.

  • FREE Heating Survey: One of our Trust heating advisor’s will visit your property, with a mini NEOS, to educate you on the product and assess whether our product is suitable for you, your lifestyle and your property. Before leaving they’ll measure up and leave you with a quote.

  • Ongoing Support: Our commitment doesn’t end with the sale. We provide a 25 Year warranty and offer a Trust Care package to give you extra peace of mind.

Conclusion: Embracing the Future of Home Heating
